FAQ – Abstracts
What are the requirements for the abstracts?
Kindly check the abstract submission guidelines and make sure your abstract complies with all the requirements.
How many abstracts may I submit?
There is no limit on the number of abstracts one can submit. However, the same piece of research cannot be submitted twice, even under a different subspecialty, in a different format, or with a different title. Duplicate entries are subject to removal.
How can I submit an abstract?
All abstracts must be submitted via the APAO Scientific Portal at https://congress.2027.apaophth.org/. Submissions by other means, such as email, post, or fax, will NOT be processed. Kindly contact submission@apaophth.org if you need help in submitting abstracts.
I spotted a mistake in my abstract after submitting it. Can I make corrections?
Once you click the “Submit” button, no changes can be made. To ensure your abstract is error-free, we strongly recommend proofreading it multiple times and inviting peers to provide fresh eyes before submission. During the process, you may use the “Save Draft” button to save your work in progress.
In case you need to make corrections after submission, the only way to do so is to withdraw the original abstract and submit a new version prior to the deadline.
If you still discover an error after the submission deadline, please indicate your correction on your presentation during the congress. However, these changes will not be included in the publications.
When will I know whether my abstract is accepted?
By October 7, 2026, an email will be sent to all submitters to notify them of the results. If you do not see such a message in your inbox by this date, please check your junk mailbox.
Notifications will only be sent to submitters. If you are among a team of co-authors, please liaise with the submitter of your abstract.
Can I choose the format of my presentation?
You will be asked to indicate your preferred presentation format when submitting your abstract. However, the final presentation format is subject to the selection results. For information about possible reformatting, please refer to the flowchart below:

Do I need to pay when submitting an abstract?
No. Abstraction submission is free of charge. However, to attend the congress (which possibly includes presenting your abstract), you will need to pay an applicable registration fee. Please visit the registration section of our conference website for details.
My abstract has been accepted. What should I do next?
The notification of acceptance will contain a hyperlink via which you can either confirm or decline your congress attendance. Please respond by October 30, 2026, so that we can schedule presentation time slots accordingly.
If you are a presenting author, you must also complete congress registration by filling out all the required information and settling the applicable fee. Make sure you use the same email address for abstract submission and congress registration.
Failure to complete registration will result in your abstract being excluded from the scientific program.
A set of guidelines for presenters will be released in due course to help with your preparation for the presentation.
Can I change the assigned presenter?
Yes. By default, the first author is the presenting author. The notification of acceptance will give you instructions to either confirm this choice or designate a co-author as the presenter.
