Welcome Message from
APAO Secretary-General and CEO

  Issue 3 – July 2026

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2027 Congress of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO), to be held March 18–21, 2027, at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The congress will feature over 800 distinguished international speakers whose expertise and innovations span the full breadth of ophthalmology. The scientific program will share clinical wisdom and present new findings across 19 ophthalmic subspecialties. We anticipate welcoming over 7,000 ophthalmologists from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, providing an exceptional forum to exchange the latest clinical expertise and knowledge.

The successful delivery of a congress of this scale is made possible through the commitment and collaboration of many individuals. On behalf of APAO and our Member Societies, I extend my sincere appreciation to APAO 2027 Congress President Prof. Tin AUNG for his leadership, and to our colleagues at the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology and the College of Ophthalmologists, Academy of Medicine, Singapore, for their thoughtful planning of this much anticipated event. I also acknowledge with gratitude APAO 2027 Scientific Program Committee (SPC) Chair Prof. Dennis LAM and the entire SPC team, whose dedication has shaped a rigorous and engaging scientific program.

In addition to the scientific sessions, the congress will provide opportunities for professional fellowship and cultural exchanges. You are cordially invited to participate in the social events held over the four days, which are invaluable occasions to engage with peers from around the world, renew professional acquaintances, and establish new collaborations.

I look forward to welcoming you to Singapore for this premier ophthalmic gathering!

Yours truly,

Clement C THAM
Secretary-General and CEO
